A Safe & Effective Way to Check Your Gallbladder Function

HIDA Scan in Bangalore

About HIDA Scan

A HIDA Scan is a nuclear medicine test used to check how well your liver, gallbladder and bile ducts are working. It involves the injection of a safe radioactive tracer (usually 99m-Tc labeled Mebrofenin) that travels through your liver into the bile ducts and gallbladder, just like natural bile.

It helps your doctor identify blockages, inflammation, or poor function of the gallbladder, especially if you’re having upper abdominal pain, nausea, or digestive issues.

Why Is This Scan Done

Tests that help diagnose kidney function, blockages, and damage accurately.

How Does the Scan Work

How to Prepare for a HIDA Scan

You should not eat or drink anything for 4–6 hours before the scan (unless your doctor says otherwise).

Inform your doctor if you’re on painkillers, antispasmodics, or opioids, as some of them may need to be paused.

Let the team know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you've had recent gallbladder or liver surgery.

Bring your ultrasound or liver function test reports if available.
